Hematological Parameters in Newborns of Mothers with and Without Preeclampsia

Background: Pregnancy-induced hypertension, preeclampsia, and eclampsia syndrome are multisystem disorders associated with adaptive changes in the fetal circulation cause a marked imbalance hemostatic system of mother fetus. Objectives: This study aimed to compare hematological parameters newborns mothers without preeclampsia. Methods: prospective case-control included 30 preeclampsia normotensive matched for age sex as control group. Umbilical cord blood samples were collected from all newborns, complete count ferritin levels measured. The data analyzed using SPSS version 21, difference between two groups was compared independent t-test Mann-Whitney test. Results: had higher mean corpuscular volume, hemoglobin, red cell distribution width, platelet width but lower white counts, level than those group (P < 0.05). Also, count, hematocrit preeclamptic mothers’ group, although not significant > Conclusions: Newborns should be carefully evaluated monitored regarding hematologic abnormalities early diagnosis possible complications.
